We're Still Here to Help

While we are all adjusting to the major changes that have happened during these difficult times, we want you to know that the library remains ready to help. Due to COVID-19 concerns and to practice social distancing, your UCA librarians are working remotely, but we continue to provide professional information services and research assistance needed by students, faculty, and staff. We can help you locate digital resources, find information on a specific topic, develop strategies for searching the library databases or the Web, keep track of your sources, and more.

How to get help?

We have two easy ways to reach us and get the help you need.

Virtual Reference Desk:

You can visit with a librarian at our Virtual Reference Desk to get immediate help with your library and research questions. The Virtual Reference Desk is a room set up in BlackBoard and is staffed by a librarian Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The environment gives us the ability to share screens and walk you through the best way to access our online resources.

Ask Us Form:

The second option is to contact us through our Ask Us page. Here you can tell us what help you need, and we will contact you. We can respond by phone, email, or chat. Also, if you need more comprehensive assistance we can set up a time to do a virtual research appointment through Google Meet.

What services do we have?

While we are away from our building, we still have a number of services and resources available.

Online Resources:

The library has a wide range of online resources including articles, ebooks, streaming video and audio, primary documents, and much more. Most resources can be located through our OneSearch box on the library homepage or by using our A-Z Databases page. If you aren't finding what you are looking for, librarians can assist with locating digital resources for research projects and finding digital versions of textbooks and other study materials. Just send us information about the resource through our Ask Us form, and we will investigate how to provide access to the resource.

Interlibrary Loan:

During this time, interlibrary loan continues to process requests for materials that can be delivered electronically. While we continue to process requests, interlibrary loan relies on cooperation with other libraries to receive resources. Therefore, the closures of other universities and institutions means that access to some resources may be limited.

Library Instruction:

For faculty, if you would like to incorporate information literacy into your classes, we offer online library instruction classes. These classes can be delivered synchronously via Blackboard Collaborate and asynchronously via other video/screen capture options, depending on your needs and preferences. Please reach out to Amber Wilson (amberc@uca.edu) OR use the Ask Us form to make arrangements.
