- American Institute of CPAs (AICPA)Representing accounting professionals in many different practice areas, the AICPA provides ethical and professional standards for individuals, companies, and organizations. The site contains a wealth of information including research areas, career paths, and advocacy issues.
- American Accounting Association (AAA)Focusing on research and publication, the American Accounting Association supplies information and support of accountants in academia.
- Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)Known for establishing the standards of financial accounting used in the private sector to govern financial reports prepared by nongovernmental organizations. Website contains standards, decision-making frameworks, and an extensive reference library.
- Public Company Accounting Oversight BoardEstablished by Congress in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation that oversees audits of public companies as well as brokers and dealers.
