Hello, welcome to the Advocacy Toolkit! This libguide is a collection of information, resources, and best practices for engaging in advocacy in your community through activism, protest, and other forms of civic engagement. From the earliest history of universities to the Civil Rights movement to Black Lives Matter, college students play a key role in social movements and organizing. Since the 26th Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified in 1971 lowering the voting age to 18, college students in the United States have constituted a group of people not only learning the skills of citizenship, but actively using their voices to drive political change. Students can practice advocacy at UCA through service-learning classes, campus involvement, and individual activism. This guide will inform you about each of these opportunities and the tools available to support you.
